The Harrisburg Marathi Shala is controlled and operated by a group of devoted volunteers. The primary objective of the Shala is to instill our rich Maharashtrian culture, values and heritage in the hearts of the growing Marathi community. Currently Marathi Shala is operating as a part of HARI (Hindu American Religious Institution) school which means you have to be a member of HARI in order to register students. The Harrisburg Marathi Shala follows BMM (Bruhan Maharashtra Mandal of North America) Marathi shala curriculum which is approved by The Bharati Vidyapeeth Pune.

The Shala aims to serve the need of the Marathi speaking community in the Harrisburg area by providing Marathi language education and introducing students to the culture of the State of Maharashtra, India. The program offers Marathi language education to the next generation. The program also introduces students to Marathi culture through group cultural activities conducted at HARI temple as well as MMCPA events. Students can take 5 levels of proficiency tests over the years to complete the program.
